Itinerary
We begin the tour with hotel pick-up and head to the traditional district of Paucarpata, known for its impressive pre-Inca and Inca agricultural terraces, as well as its beautiful colonial church. From there, we continue to the Sabandía Mill, where you'll witness how grain is still ground into flour using the force of water — a centuries-old technique that remains in use.
Next, we take the Scenic Route (Vía Paisajista), surrounded by breathtaking countryside. Along this path, we visit the Founder’s Mansion, a remarkable colonial estate rich in history, and the nearby Huasacache Palace, dating back to the 16th century.
Our journey then takes us to Tingo, a traditional recreational area with a peaceful artificial lake, popular among locals, especially on weekends. We continue to the Sachaca Viewpoint, offering sweeping views of Arequipa’s urban landscape, agricultural fields, and the surrounding volcanoes: Misti, Chachani, and Pichu Pichu.
Along the route, we will also see the Puente de Fierro, an iconic 19th-century iron bridge attributed to Gustave Eiffel, adding an interesting touch of European engineering to the tour.
Next, we visit the Carmen Alto Viewpoint, which overlooks the lush Chilina Valley and its ancient terraces. Finally, we arrive in Yanahuara, one of Arequipa’s most charming neighborhoods, where you can enjoy panoramic views of the city framed by its famous sillar arches, and explore its lovely plaza and baroque-style church.
After visiting Yanahuara, the tour concludes with drop-off at your hotel or another central location of your choice.
