Salinas Salt Flats & Volcano Views

The adventure begins early in the morning with hotel pick-up in Arequipa between 7:00 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. (approximately 2,335 m.a.s.l.). We head southeast, ascending through scenic routes that offer panoramic views of the majestic volcanoes Misti, Chachani, and Pichu Pichu, while passing by ancient pre-Incan terraces adorning the slopes of Chiguata.

Our first stop is the charming village of Chiguata, located at 3,300 m.a.s.l. Here, guests will explore the colonial Church of Espíritu Santo and enjoy a traditional local breakfast prepared by the community, providing an authentic connection to Andean culture.

We continue ascending to a panoramic viewpoint at approximately 3,850 m.a.s.l., where guests can admire unique perspectives of the guardian volcanoes and the surrounding Andean landscape.

Next, we enter the Salinas and Aguada Blanca National Reserve, situated around 4,200 m.a.s.l. Here, guests will take a leisurely guided walk along designated trails to fully experience the breathtaking landscapes, capturing photographs of the shimmering salt flats, mirrors of water reminiscent of Bolivia’s Uyuni, and spotting native wildlife such as vicuñas, llamas, alpacas, and seasonal flamingos. The guide will provide insight into the local ecosystem and the importance of preserving this fragile environment.

Our journey proceeds to the natural hot springs of Lojen, located at 3,850 m.a.s.l., where guests can relax in rustic thermal pools surrounded by spectacular volcanic scenery.

Following the thermal baths, guests will enjoy an eco-friendly picnic lunch within the reserve, savoring the breathtaking views while practicing responsible tourism by ensuring all waste is carried out to protect this fragile ecosystem.

Finally, we return to Arequipa with an approximate arrival time of 4:30 p.m., dropping off guests at their respective accommodations.
