Uros Floating Islands

The tour begins with a hotel pickup at a time agreed upon in advance, as departures range from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., depending on availability and guest preference. From the pickup location, travelers are transferred to the main port in Puno to board a motorized boat.

The boat ride lasts approximately 30 minutes, offering stunning views of Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world. Upon arrival at the Uros Floating Islands, guests embark on a guided tour of two to three islands constructed entirely from totora reeds, a local aquatic plant.

During the visit, the guide provides insights into the Uros people's history, culture, and unique lifestyle, including how they build and maintain their floating islands and homes. Visitors can also observe and participate in traditional activities such as artisanal fishing and handicraft making.

An optional totora reed boat ride is available for an additional fee, payable directly to the local community. This experience offers a closer and more authentic perspective of the lake.

After the visit, the boat returns to Puno’s main port, where the tour concludes with transportation back to the hotel or original pickup point.
